What are the global issues YOU care about? In this election, are the politicians addressing the issues you want to hear about? Even if you can't vote yet, decisions made by our government change Canada's role in the world and will affect your future. If you're wondering about what Canada can do to alleviate global poverty, what our role in the Darfur humanitarian crisis will be, how Canada will fit into the global economy...anything about Canada's role beyond our borders, all you have to do is ASK! Check out this free all-party forum on October 7th, and make your voice heard!
You are invited to join Engineers Without Borders, Canada's World and SFU's School for International Studies in a free all-party public forum, focusing on issues of global poverty, at the SFU Vancouver Campus at Harbour Centre. At 6:30 pm on October 7th, candidates from each of the major political parties in the Vancouver area will be joining 200 Vancouverites to challenge, question, and discuss Canada's role in the international community, with a focus on efforts to eradicate extreme poverty.
Broad topics to be discussed include Canada's policies and actions on aid, debt and trade. Candidates will present their parties' positions on these issues and answer questions from a moderator and the audience.
If you're interested in Canada's role in the world, and want to know what our elected officials think about issues of global poverty and the government's role in overcoming such challenges, join us for this interactive political forum. Most of the event will consist of questions from the audience - so if you have a burning concern, this is your chance to see what our leaders plan on doing about it!
